As an artist, I find I thrive in this place between dance and theater, a gray area where movement and physicality speaks loudest. Dance is the language I feel most fluent in, driven to interpret rhythm and musicality, and prioritize storytelling. I deeply value a strong sense of technical accuracy, and at the same time, the ability to play. Subtlety and nuance, intention and tension, dynamics and style, are what take movement to a magical place. I want to live in the movement that makes me feel. I want to live in the movement that makes others feel.
While deeply inspired by the classic jazz works of theater and film, I see my work as boundless, not restricted by the confines of a style. My versatile training in jazz, contemporary, tap, Horton, ballet, capoeira, house, etc. has allowed me to explore a wide spectrum of what dance can be, and has shown me it does not need to be divided and compartmentalized. I strive to bridge the gap between the sparkle of theater and the rawness of contemporary movement, and transcend the boxes of commercial and concert work.
